Allstate Transmission And Auto Repair Project Car Build-Ups
Phoenix, AZ‘s Allstate Transmission and Capitol Collision Repair start on their first project car together, a bare 1967 Pontiac Firebird Hard Top. It’ll be getting a high revving 350 ci Pontiac engine, a custom TH400 Rebuilt Transmission, a 2300 rpm stall convertor, a blinding ultra clean red paint job, all new interior, as well as a ton of other nice custom and performance parts.
Our 1967 Firebird project car‘s photo history starts before it even gets off our tow truck. At Allstate Transmission And Auto repair, we share our facility with Capitol Collision Repair, an auto body shop that produces show quality work on every car they touch. If you’re looking for paint and body work that rivals custom body shops, I highly recommend them, especially if you want your car done right, on time and with the cost of the repairbeing exactly what you were quoted. Something that never seems to happen at the custom paint and body shops here in Phoenix. Well that’s as much of a plug as they’re going to get, actually that was more of a commercial then a plug. But my point was going to be that, since we work so close together, and we’re both at the top of our industries, we decided to go in together on a couple of muscle cars and see what we could do.
Allstate Transmissions Takes Care of the performance area; the motor, a rebuilt transmission, the differential work, etc, basically everything under the car, especially under the hood; we take care of. Capitol Collision does all the custom red paint and body work and the interior work. This red 1967 Pontiac Firebird Hardtop was our first project together. Eric Boyer, the Manager at Capitol Collision, and a good friend of mine, found the old Firebird on Craig’s list here locally. Luckily it was the first day of the post, so we jumped in the tow truck and grabbed it before anyone else could.
The Firebird‘s owner had been collecting parts for it for a while, and had purchased almost all the NEW interior and body accessories including; weather-strip, window felt and carpet kits, door panels, window cranks, door handles, seat belts and upholstery, sun visors, headliner, gas tank with sending unit, all emblems and chrome trim pieces, glove box door, window tray, lights, harnesses and a ton of other new stuff, the entire inside of the Firebirdwas full of new parts.
